Perlite

Coarse perlite, a versatile garden material, is primarily used to aerate soils and grow plants directly in it. Its uses extend to rooting plant cuttings and preventing root rot, making it an essential tool for any gardener.

How to Use:

To improve soils: Add 1/2 cup of perlite for every 2 cups of dense soil, or as needed, to improve airflow and soil texture, reducing the risk of root rot.

For rooting cuttings: Place 1 to 2 cups of perlite (depending on the number of cuttings) into a shallow container, add 1/2 cup of water, insert the cuttings, and allow them to grow.

Other Uses:

Add a layer at the bottom of planters to reduce the risk of root rot, especially if the planter lacks a drainage hole.

Rest assured, coarse perlite is safe to use. Remember to rinse it before use and store it in a dry place for optimal results.
